Furnace Repair Self Check

There are a few simple things you can check before calling our Technical department.

1. Make sure the switch is turned on and the circuit breaker or fuse is not tripped. (Note: Most programmable thermostats including the Hydro “PeakSaver” needs up to 5 minutes to reset after power has been turned off.)

2. If you have a high-efficiency furnace check to see if there is anything blocking the vent pipes, the furnace will sense the restriction and shut off. Once everything has been cleared you will need to reset the furnace, wait a few seconds then reapply the power. The furnace should restart in a few minutes.

3. Ensure the furnace filters are clean, a dirty filter will cause the furnace to overheat and your air conditioner will not blow air through the vents. The built-in safety controls will shut the furnace off to prevent an unsafe condition. Again try to correct the problem by attempting to reset the furnace and restart your system.

If you are still unsuccessful it is time to call our service experts. Our professional technician will collect all necessary data and analyze it for a complete diagnosis. They will also look beyond the failed part to ensure that the required heating air conditioning repair checklist has been done to avoid any future episodes. This is an important step so you can make an informed decision about whether the repair is worth the cost or not (see the repair or replace).
